Dumb Stuff I Think People Think III

This one I’ll just summarize in one word: “Keynesianism”.
The best and most accurate statement of which ever created, I don’t mind saying, is below:
UPDATE: Admittedly, it may be that the reason I think “Keynesianism” is so mind-blowingly stupid is that I just haven’t had it condescendingly explained enough times to me via simplistic, cartoonish metaphors by people whose perpetual background assumption is that they are orders of magnitude smarter than I am. Maybe if I just read one more Paul Krugman column or Matthew Yglesias blog post something will click in my head. I may never get the opportunity to test out this theory however; chronic, inexplicable nauseau upon trying to slog through a full Paul Krugman column or Matthew Yglesias blog post seems to prevent it. How tragic, for me.

Good thing we’ve had the exact opposite of Keynesianism since, like, forever. Look how many wonderful jobs have been created by Reaganist philosophy. I’m sure current unemployment will evaporate once we marshal the good sense to cut corporate taxes down to 0.
This comment is not even wrong
“Good thing we’ve had the exact opposite of Keynesianism since, like, forever. Look how many wonderful jobs have been created by Reaganist philosophy.”
Forever, eh? Hmmm…. I seem to recall that the economy was pretty darn terrific under one William J. Clinton. I recall it because, back in the dim dark days of ChimpHilter McHalliburton and his horrific 5.5% unemployment rate, Smart People were constantly reminding me how great the Clinton economy was. Which would suggest that either
a) Clinton’s was a “Reaganite philosophy” that does in fact create jobs, or
b) Clinton’s policies were somehow “Keynesian,” but not the right kind of Keynesian, since his worked and Obama’s don’t, or
c) the economy is far too complicated to even be described, let alone managed, by simple descriptors like “Keynesian” (which I take to be Sonic’s point), or
d) Xamuel didn’t really think this one through and just went with one of the three or four standard Smart Person canned responses whenever they’re shown to be full of it: X “hasn’t really been tried.” (Acceptable variants include “this wasn’t the real X” and “if you really understood X, you’d see that what people are claiming to be X is in fact not-X). It’s not that the liberal viewpoint is just plain wrong — not that, never that — but that we’re just too stupid to understand how right it is.
It must be quite the burden, being absolutely right about everything 100% of the time. How does one keep from keeling over from the boredom?
I think it’s d). Truthfully I think Xamuel’s too smart to actually believe the words he typed above.
You mean if Xamuel will say he was being sarcastic we should assume he’s being sarcastic when claiming he’s being sarcastic?
Ok. I’ll go along with that. Xamuel’s comments now make a whole lot more sense than they did.
Cool poster there. Wherever did you find it?
I guess you could say, great minds think alike…
