Leave It Alone
9/11/01 was a horrible day and I do not think it’s appropriate to commemorate it. Is that ok?
I don’t want to see Very Special shows about it on TV. I don’t want Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising suddenly re-suggested to me on iTunes (or am I imagining this?). I don’t want to see any of the weird, warped, compromised memorials they’ve come up with. I don’t want to read human-interest pieces regarding how the intervening 10 years have been ‘for Muslim-Americans’. I don’t want to see Bono anywhere.
I will make one exception, for the guy that used to sing “God Bless America” at Yankee Stadium, who as far as I’m concerned is welcome anytime.
To me it is a day best left in the past.
Note, none of this means I will or can forget what those bastards did. It’s just that I don’t need any sappy TV specials to aid me in that regard.
Why do you hate Freedom!
911 Memory especially for you:
Never knew Sam Jackson was in this video! Cool.
Yes, spare me the public feeling fest. Why do they do it?
I think a group-hug is in order. Every day and especially today. And if you can reach out to a muslim in egypt or in saudi arabia or in any one of those places, do so. send them some love.
If only america had done that before 9.11.
This is a day for commemorating the tragedies that occur from not Understanding each other.
