I’m noticing a trend here in your posts.

A lot of people (me included) had some level of enthusiasm for the Iraq war back in the beginning.

At the outset of the war, there were Smart People (Mostly R’s back then, would they still be considered part of the Smart People set?) telling us that we would, more or less, create a democratic paradise in the ME. (Before the Iraq war I had some level of distrust in the Federal government. Now my distrust is complete. I don’t care if they are incompetent or just plain lying. When their lips are moving what you hear is wrong.)

Either through the wrong decision to invade, or the wrong implementation of the decision to invade, we do not have a democratic paradise in the ME.

Now come the AGW/Climate Change/Open Borders/Name Your Cause people. Many of whom, I will acknowledge, were against the Iraq war.

These people look at the current status quo and say, with certainty, that they have a plan to fix the situation. There is no humility in their knowledge. There is no humility in the likelihood of their preferred plan working as they envision. There is no acknowledgement of the ability of the little guy on the ground to adjust to any future that may come along. They have the righteousness of Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney on the eve of the invasion. They think they have information as good as Colin Powell speaking before the UN.

Donald Rumsfeld was pretty great

I tend to agree with you, but do you think if he knew then what he knows now, he would have been such an advocate for war?

This blog is a real blog. Is that one too?
